69/366 [Leaf drop]

Leaf drop

Where I live autumn is usually a long drawn out affair. The first few weeks are little different to summer but as March draws to an end and daylight saving finishes up, the nights become cooler and the leaves begin to change colour. It is well into April or May before they begin to fall. Not this year. The stress of the long drought and another long, dry summer has pushed them into survival mode. This golden ash has shed it’s leaves seemingly overnight. Even the evergreen gums are dumping leaves into the gutters. Despite the fact, or maybe because, today the temperature reached 36C.
