167/366 [Gloamin’]

My dad, a sometimes homesick Scot, taught us many of the songs of ‘hame’. One of my childhood favourites was “Roamin’ in the gloamin”. Dad explained that gloaming was that part of twilight when it is neither truly light nor dark. I never really understood until I experienced the long twilights of the Scottish summer. My cousin says you know it’s must be summer – the rain is warmer. Twilight where I live is a much shorter affair but tonight, as I drove to the local shopping strip, I felt it really was gloaming. All one minute and a half of it.
