289/366 [Keeping score]

I made my first appearance on a tennis court at six weeks of age. Clearly as a spectator rather than a particpant. My tennis obsessed father taught the whole family to play and I was probably the most reluctant to learn. You can get a game anywhere in the world, he told me. You can play all your life. It’s a great sport. I was hard to convince. But he persisted, and so did I. On the court these days I’m nothing like as agile as I was. But I’m a hell of a lot sneakier. And there is something so satisfying about going out and knocking off the team that is on top of the ladder. We’ve finally come good in time to qualify for the finals. We just have to keep it up.
