327/366 [Reduced to talking about the weather]

September and October were so dry and the first weeks of November so hot that experienced heads were nodding and comments such as “It’s going to be a long, hot summer” and “We’ll be on Stage 4 water restrictions soon and there goes the garden” could be heard echoing across vast distances of the city. Today, we received almost the whole month’s average rain in a little less than 24 hours and it hailed three times. The temperature struggled to reached 11C during the day and I put on the woolly slippers and jumper and turned the heating back up to Melt the Ice Cap level. The forecast is for more of the same tonight and tomorrow and I’m only sorry that our 10,000 litre tank is full and overflowing. Let’s hope that it is falling in the catchments as well.

  1. Gosh, your garden does look exotic and exciting – it also looks as if you might have an interesting view? And it’s so tidy, damnit!

10,000 litres is one hell of a tank. Wow.

  2. We do have a nice green vista behind these trees since the rain but at night it’s dominated by a bazillion watt spotlight in the restaurant car park on the main road. And tidy? That’s because the hail and wind blew away the mixed carpet of eucalyptus leaves and possum crap. Those buggers may not be deciduous but they can drop leaves with the best of them.
