6/366 [Apricots]

Apricots

Bought from a stall on the side of the road directly from the grower as the routine of packing up for the day began. The heat from the sun was still biting hard and the warm, familiar smell of the fruit filled the car on the way home. The flavour remembered from childhood, soft, dripping juice down my fingers. The two kilograms not eaten that night became glowing glass pots of conserve on the kitchen bench. Triggering new cascades of memory.
